Care Tips & Troubleshooting
What kind of kayaks does this work on?
The Texas Power Paddle system was originally designed for Hobie kayaks, now available for a wide range of kayak makes and models, including Jackson and Native Watercraft.
What are the technical specifications of the system?
How long does the battery last?
The battery lasts over 2 hours on full power, 4-6 hours on medium, and up to 10 hours on a low speed trolling mode
How fast does this propel the kayak?
Depends on the hull type but for most kayaks this propels about the speed of modest paddling/pedaling 3.5-4.5mph.
What is the shallowest water I can run in?
Extremely shallow- the hinged motor system only protrudes 5 inches from the hull bottom so you can get into the spots others can’t
How much does the whole system weigh?
Total system weight is about 12 pounds
Can I buy an extra battery?
You can buy an extra control unit which includes the battery system.
How durable is the motor?
The motor is adapted from deep sea submersibles – this motor works in tough saltwater environments and can take abuse from the elements.
How long does this take to install?
For most models, install takes under 5 minutes.
